Cisco and VMware

As mentioned in our live coverage post at VMworld 2008’s keynote presentation, Cisco and VMware now have a partnership.

In close collaboration with VMware, Cisco has produced an intelligent software switching implementation to be run on the ESX hypervisor. It is known as the Nexus 1000V Virtual Switch. It is a powerful switching architecture providing improved security with policy based VM connections, mobile VM security, and non-disruptive networking.

To go with this, they also provide VN-Link which are virtual machine aware networking services to make sure policies move with the VM as it migrates. Here is some great information on this.
