Earlier this week Citrix both announced and re-branded their flagship presentation layer virtualization product: “XenApp 5″ formerly Presentation Server (formerly MetaFrame). It touts lower price points, drastic performance improvements (up to 10x faster launch times), and a much better end-user experience. In addition, Citrix has now created a unified product line to handle all of your virtualization needs. XenApp fits seamlessly together with XenServer and XenDesktop to create end-to-end virtual environments. XenApp is also designed to extend the Windows Server 2008 platform including Hyper-V.
XenApp 5 will be available on September 10th with a price point starting at $350 per concurrent user.
