I may start using it at home. Currently I just run a linux server with VMware Server on it for VMs that I need to run on my server. But possibly in the future I could just run a hypervisor and deploy what I need running (much like a companies strategy).

I have been using ESX at home for a while (borrowing a 2 CPU license from my company’s extra license stash… and yes, they approved it). The ESXi for free will allow me to discontinue using the company resource and even run another ESX server at home.

My company pretty disspointed since we just bought 2 x 2 CPU licenses of ESXi two weeks prior to it being released for free. VMWare is not plannin on doing anything for us either…
